Driving a bit slower saves money!
I drove home from Rhinelander, Wisconsin, on Saturday, moseying along at about 50 mph where there was no traffic. Look at my mileage when I got home!
Roadkilled deer and other wildlife subsidize crows, ravens, vultures, and eagles. These birds seem to benefit, but when crow populations get out of balance with other wildlife, they take a higher number of eggs and nestlings from songbirds to feed their own nestlings. And one of the major causes of eagle mortality is auto collisions when they're approaching or flying off from a roadkill.
